What’s Happening in Physical Education in Term 1 2026:

FOUNDATION

Foundation students will begin to develop Fundamental Motor Skills and be introduced to basic group games. We will focus on displaying good sportsmanship and the importance of following the rules. Students will be introduced to throwing and catching skills throughout the term.

GRADE ONE

Grade One students will be focusing on various throwing and passing skills throughout the term. These skills will be used in modified games and skill activities. We will introduce a range of target games where students will have the chance identify rules and fair play while working in small groups.

We will also explore the Winter Olympic Games and learn about the different events.

GRADE TWO

Grade Two students will be focusing on various throwing and passing skills throughout the term. These skills will be used in modified games and skill activities. We will introduce a range of target games where students will have the chance identify rules and fair play while working in small groups.

We will also explore the Winter Olympic Games and learn about the different events.

GRADE THREE

Grade three students will be focusing on Racquet Sports, Tee-ball and Basketball. This will provide opportunities to learn about different skills from these sports and participate in modified games. Students will be applying basic rules and scoring systems and continuing to develop their knowledge of fair play. We will also explore the Winter Olympic Games and learn about the different events.

House Cross Country will take place for all grade 3-6 students.

GRADE FOUR

Grade three students will be focusing on Racquet Sports, Tee-ball and Basketball. This will provide opportunities to learn about different skills from these sports and participate in modified games. Students will be applying basic rules and scoring systems and continuing to develop their knowledge of fair play. We will also explore the Winter Olympic Games and learn about the different events.

GRADE 5/6

Grade 5/6 students will be focusing on Tee-ball, Racquet Sports and Target Games. This will provide opportunities to learn new skills and develop understanding of how to adjust the force and speed of an object to improve accuracy and control. Fitness activities will be included in lessons and students will discuss different reactions that occur in the body as a result of exercise. We will also explore the Winter Olympic Games and learn about the different events.

House Cross Country will take place for all grade 3-6 students.
