What’s happening in Italian in Term 3 2025
FOUNDATION:
In Term 3, Foundation students will be exploring the theme ‘Mangia, Mangia!’ (Eat, eat!), focusing on food and how to express likes and dislikes in Italian. As part of their learning, students will listen to a story called Mangia, Mangia, which introduces a variety of foods and simple language to say whether they like or don’t like them. They will also engage in songs, chants, and rhymes to help build their confidence and improve their Italian pronunciation. We are also very excited about our upcoming Italian Day, where students will take part in a range of fun cultural activities and enjoy tasting some delicious Italian food. Looking forward to a fantastico term of language and cultural learning!
GRADE 1:
In Term 3, Grade 1 students will be exploring the topic ‘Mangiamo!’ (Let’s eat!). They will listen to engaging stories and take part in fun activities to help them learn the names of different Italian foods. Students will also learn how to say which foods they like and dislike, as well as common phrases used when eating, such as “grazie” (thank you), “delizioso” (delicious), and “buon appetito!” (enjoy your meal). As part of their learning, they’ll also practise how to ask for specific foods in Italian, helping to build their confidence with simple conversational phrases. We are also very excited about our upcoming Italian Day, where students will take part in a range of fun cultural activities and enjoy tasting some delicious Italian food. We are also very excited about our upcoming Italian Day, where students will take part in a range of fun cultural activities and enjoy tasting some delicious Italian food. Students will practise reading menus and using common phrases for dining out, helping them build useful conversational skills. To bring their learning to life, they will work in small groups to create and perform their own restaurant scenes, using Italian words and expressions in a fun and practical way. We are also very excited about our upcoming Italian Day, where students will take part in a range of fun cultural activities and enjoy tasting some delicious Italian food.
