Supporting children during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic
The Emerging Minds website has a range of fabulous resources for families to help support children (and parents) during Lockdown.
The two videos below have some great, simple ideas that may be useful as we face another two weeks of remote learning.

The articles available on this website also discuss ideas around using play to support your children by:
- sticking to a routine and involving play in that routine
- providing your undivided attention during play (even if this is only for 5 minutes, 3-4 times per week)
- creating a safe space where your child can be relaxed and engage in what they enjoy
- following your child’s lead when engaging in their play
- sharing a story together
- being kind to yourself
Further information about supporting your child’s wellbeing through play can be found at
There are also some fantastic episodes on the Emerging Minds Podcasts available from Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts or YouTube. I can certainly recommend listening to:
- Bonus episode: Children’s mental health during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic
- The power of play
I would encourage you all to explore the Emerging Minds website in more detail as there is certainly some ideas in there that I have not covered already in this post. You can find further information by clicking the link below.
Stay safe.
